About the Role
Houzz is looking for a world-class data science manager to lead our eCommerce Marketplace Data Science team. We are a team of talented data analysts and scientists that are passionate about driving and informing critical decisions through deep and rigorous data analysis and cutting edge data science technologies.

What You’ll Do
  • As a manager on the Marketplace Data Science team your role is to provide leadership and guidance to a team of talented data scientists and analysts and be a thought-partner to marketplace leaders and executives. You will be responsible for a team that:
  • Creates strategic thinking that pushes the envelope of scientific knowledge
  • Defines, monitors and deeply understands key metrics and KPIs that drive the business
  • Analyzes experimentation and recommends decisions on what and when to launch
  • Builds models and algorithms for on and offline usage.
  • At a Minimum, We’d Like You to Have
  • 2+ years’ experience in managing & leading data science & analytical teams in top notch companies. As a frontline manager, you will manage several direct reports initially and will have the opportunity to create, scale and nourish a team of experienced professionals.
  • Excellent educational background in computer science, machine learning, statistics, applied math, economics, operations research, or a related field. Master degree required.
  • At least 5 years of industry experience in data science, with significant personal experience as a technical contributor. Experience working with large data sets and experience with spatial data a plus.
  • Experience working in a metrics and experimentation driven organization.
  • Strong technical skills and experience with common analysis tools - Python, R, and SQL. Demonstrable familiarity with code and programming concepts.
  • Strong execution, willingness to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty to get to the bottom of things.
  • Ideally, You’ll Also Have
  • Relevant experience in scaling up ecommerce and marketplace
  • Relevant experience in applying data science in developing top notch consumer products
  • Experience with modern distributed data technologies (Hadoop, Hive, Impala, etc.)
  • Experience using Tableau
  • Experience in building offline machine learning models and intelligent systems
